OBJECTIVES:

• Master the essential steps in creating and making garments.

• Master the techniques and use of a sewing machine and overlocker.

• Learn and practice the main sewing techniques.

• Know the technical and professional language.

THE PROGRAM:

​

1. Learn how to take body measurements;

2. Learn how to interpret patterns

3. Trace patterns (skirt, blouse, dress, and pants)

4. Assemble, try on, and assemble the fabric model

5. Create the model.

TEACHING AND TECHNICAL MATERIALS:

​

Documentation, books, magazines, educational outings (trade fairs, exhibitions, fashion shows, suppliers), classroom lessons, videos, practical demonstrations, and workshops will be used to teach students to:

​

• Master professional tools (sewing machine, overlocker, mannequin)

• Understand different fabrics, threads, pattern paper, needles, tape measure, ruler, etc

• Learn the different types of seams and assemblies

• Make different types of garments
