OBJECTIVES:

Master the essential steps involved in garment creation and production.

Learn how to use and master sewing machines and overlock machines.

Learn and practice the main sewing techniques.

Understand professional and technical fashion terminology.
PROGRAM:

Learn how to take body measurements;

Understand how to interpret patterns;
-
Draft patterns (skirts, blouses, dresses, and trousers);
-
Assembly, fitting, and construction of fabric garments;
-
Garment production and finishing.
TEACHING METHODS AND TECHNICAL RESOURCES:
Documentation, books, magazines, educational outings (trade fairs, exhibitions, fashion shows, suppliers), classroom lessons, videos, practical demonstrations, and workshop sessions will be used with the aim of teaching students to:

Master professional tools (sewing machine, overlock machine, mannequin);

Understand different fabrics, threads, pattern paper, needles, measuring tools, rulers, etc.;

Learn different sewing and assembly techniques;

Produce different types of garments.
KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT METHODS:
Completion of four selected garment models.
